At this opportunity let’s tried to compare Blackberry Onyx / Bold 9700 with the Nokia E72. Nokia E72 is a new member of the Nokia E series which may be to change the position of the Nokia E71, while the BlackBerry Bold 9700 is the second generation Bold named Bold Onyx.
PRICE
The price of Nokia E72 is about $ 500, while BB Onyx about $ 800 (distributors warranty / unlocked). Price is one of important thing when comparing the two products with similar capabilities. Maybe the price is something very important in determining choice. Nokia E72 users can set the expenses for the cost of data access as you wish. But if the uncontrolled use may cause costs to swell.
While BlackBerry requires registration with the service that has variation cost. Service costs will be separated from the burden of credit to call, streaming, and roaming and the use of the phone.
INTERFACE
For display, the Nokia E72 has a higher bitrate ie 24bit or 16.7 million color TFT display, with Symbian OS 9.3 S60 v3.2 UI. While BlackBerry Onyx has only 16 bit or 65,536 colors. But the BlackBerry Bold 9700 has a larger screen resolution 480×360piksel with 2.44 inches, (while the Nokia E72 only has 320×240 pixels with 2.36-inch screen) that can display images and video more clearly. So is the menu icons and text.
CONNECTIVITY
For the data path, the Nokia E72 has HSDPA, 10.2 Mbps and HSUPA 2 Mbps while the Blackberry Onyx has HSDPA, 3.6 Mbps. While at BlackBerry Onyx connectivity available Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g, UMA, Bluetooth, and data cable. On the Nokia E72 is not available UMA, only to have Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g, Bluetooth and data cable.
Nokia E72 and BlackBerry Onyx has a Wi-Fi with equal ability.
OFFICE TOOL
In the default condition, just bought. Nokia E72 and BlackBerry Bold Onyx has a push mail service (Nokia mail and BlackBerry Service) with each of up to 10 accounts. To read the office documents such as Ms Word and Excel, the Nokia E72 has a full license to edit and view, while the BB Onyx only for view. To read the PDF and ZIP files are available on the Nokia E72, and Blackberry Onyx do not have it.
MULTIMEDIA
Camera on Nokia E72 has the power of 5MP (2592×1944 pixels) with autofocus and LED flash, while the BlackBerry Onyx has a 3.2 MP camera, autofocus and LED flash. To record a video, the Nokia E72 can record the size of the VGA @ 15 fps, while the BlackBerry Onyx reach the size 480×360 pixels @ 30 fps.
Nokia ahead in camera and music format support, While BlackBerry is more superior to video support (Divx/WMV/Xvid/3gp) with a better screen resolution, BB Bold 9700 can display video better.
HARDWARE
Nokia E72 uses the ARM 11 600 MHz processor, and Blackberry Onyx uses Intel PXA270 624 MHz. In the external memory of both smartphones can be upgraded up to 16GB (MicroSD). Despite having the same battery capacity (1500 mAh), Nokia E72 battery is better able to survive because it uses Lithium Polymer.
From the above review, in fact both of the Nokia E72 and BlackBerry Onyx has advantages and disadvantages of each when compared between these two phones. So, choose which one??
